Abigail meet the world!

One of the most life-changing events of my twenty one years of life, would have to be the birth of Abigail Olivia. I know everyone tells you how much life is turned upside down by those small packages, but I don't think anyone ever really comprehends the extensive advice from family and mostly utter strangers. Many people asked whether I found it strange or 'weird' having a baby after Abigail was born, but God really is clever in giving us 9 montsh to get used to the idea. The long 42 week build-up was brought to an end early Saturday morning on 8 August 2009. As soon as we passed the 40 week due date, our jokes about Abby arriving on the biggest day of Gavin's rugby career this year became actual concerns, well for him anyway. At 41 weeks we went for our last scan which revealed nothing, only that the baby was healthy, which is all we wanted to know. Aaaaand...we're back!

Well, there are only a million reasons why I haven't written in almost 2 years but no good ones! (Except that I actually forgot my log-in and blog site name, that's a pretty legitimate excuse). I just have far too many thoughts being processed on a daily basis NOT to write, as well as the frightfully fast way days turn to months and months, year's, and then suddenly your new-born is 2 and a half year's old and you have another baby! Yes, a lot has happened in 2 years... Where shall I start? My children. My children are the most wonderful little people in the world, no bias at all... ok maybe just a little. In all honestly though they are the sunshine of my life, always keeping me on my toes and so full of energy and life. I can proudly say I have 4 babies. One of whom we sadly said goodbye to last year in November. I had little Eli Zachary Gavin in the early hours of Sunday 17th November 2013 at just 18 weeks. Hold up!! I'm not ready for this...

So right  now, as it stands, I'm mother to a peaceful,fun, sweet-natured four year old, an adventurous,curious, toothless seven year old and a creative, social, strong-willed and determined nine year old. If you had asked me a few years ago what the hardest part of parenting was, I would have said without a doubt the baby and to ddler years. The years where the never-ending workload of real life crash-collides with bringing little people into the world. Sleepless nights, keeping toddlers who have an affinity for dangerous activities, alive (!!!), keeping new babies who live with dangerous toddlers, alive(!!!!!) and of course keeping your sleep-deprived, baby-brained, overworked self alive in the process. Having kids is the most amazing, gut-wrenchingly hard, rewarding, (did I mention) A-mazing experience EVER! It is a 'job' never done, a calling never finished and a journey never ending.
