I actually can't help but comment on a subject which frustrates me quite immensley. It was the topic of yesterday's Good Morining discussion and provoked quite a response from viewers.

It is surprising at least, that I had any amount of profound thought from two days worth of daytime television. However, I did. Oprah, for two days in a row has had very sobering programmes of families who are so much less fortunate that mine. The first show featured a little girl, of seven, who suffered with schizophrenia. The parents chose to cope with it by living in two seperate apartments and raising their younger 'normal' child seperately and obviously living seperately at night, swapping and alternating each day. Living with such an intense love for their daughter yet having the daily stress of knowing she cannot be left alone or by herself with anyone else, is just mindblowing to imagine. The second Oprah show featured the stories of child after child who was abducted. Distraught parents, weary from the fight, some for 20 years now, begged fellow Americans to help them find their children. Abigail meet the world!

One of the most life-changing events of my twenty one years of life, would have to be the birth of Abigail Olivia. I know everyone tells you how much life is turned upside down by those small packages, but I don't think anyone ever really comprehends the extensive advice from family and mostly utter strangers. Many people asked whether I found it strange or 'weird' having a baby after Abigail was born, but God really is clever in giving us 9 montsh to get used to the idea. The long 42 week build-up was brought to an end early Saturday morning on 8 August 2009. As soon as we passed the 40 week due date, our jokes about Abby arriving on the biggest day of Gavin's rugby career this year became actual concerns, well for him anyway. At 41 weeks we went for our last scan which revealed nothing, only that the baby was healthy, which is all we wanted to know. Aaaaand so it starts

This week was a big week in the de Wit family. Our eldest child started school at a very grown up five and a half. It was slightly emotional for me, more so the night before as I got all her uniform and lunch ready. I was emotional because I had prayed and prayed about the reality of sending Abby to the private Christian school we'd chosen and at the time I prayed, it was an impossibility. However, here we were two year's later and God had miraculously made a way for our baby to go to the school we wanted , how incredible. And admittedly I was slightly emotional because I had only just found  out school started the next morning and not the following day which I had in my head, for some reason. The perfect, organised part of my brain went into overdrive at the thought of Abbys first day of school being ruined by a panicky morning where we didn't have everything we needed to get her off to school.
